Project Overview

US Trade Tariff Impact Analysis is a cloud-based analytics platform that centralizes customs, tariff, and logistics data to answer a simple question: How do global trade decisions impact cost, margin, and risk?

The solution ingests raw trade files, harmonizes them into a curated data model, applies HTS-based tariff logic, and exposes both historical and forward-looking insights for finance, supply chain, and sourcing teams.

Project Goals

  • Unify fragmented import/export, tariff, and logistics data in one analytical model.
  • Provide near real-time visibility into landed cost, margin, and tariff exposure.
  • Enable what-if simulations for tariff changes, supplier switches, and routing scenarios.
  • Reduce manual spreadsheet work and improve auditability of trade decisions.

End-to-End Flow

  • Raw customs declarations and shipment data land in AWS S3 (landing / raw zones).
  • AWS Glue jobs standardize, enrich, and join data with HTS tables and reference dimensions.
  • Curated fact and dimension tables are loaded into Redshift for analytics and exploration.
  • Semantic models and dashboards are built in QuickSight / Power BI for business users.
  • Scheduled jobs keep the model fresh while cost-aware partitioning keeps performance high.
